I have found that a lot of people find ‘handwritten’ fonts cheesy, overly emotional and don’t seem to use them very often. I started to wonder why that is.

Handwriting is something so personal and imperfect, so maybe the fact that these typefaces aren’t is what makes us weary of them. I started to look for a way to utilise this and create a context where this unique feature can be turned into a benefit, something beautiful.

I love poetry and always found it fascinating to see the poet’s handwritten manuscript, it’s like there’s a whole new layer of meaning just seeing the way the words are written. Using different “handwritten” fonts I tried to recreate this effect in my own way, resulting in a book of poetry and typography, for short ‘Poetype’.

It’s 48 pages long and features multiple poets and fonts.
